Java Minecraft Servers

Java Edition servers are for the PC (desktop) version of Minecraft—you join with the classic Java IP and port (usually 25565). Bedrock servers are for Pocket Edition (PE), Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Windows 10/11 Bedrock. They use different IPs and sometimes different ports. Our Minecraft server list separates Java servers, Bedrock servers, and crossplay servers so you can find the right list for your platform.

Many Java servers support mods or modpacks—check the server description for "modded," "modpack," or required mods. Plugin-based servers (survival, minigames, Skyblock) often don't require mods; you join with vanilla or a specific version. Our Java servers list includes both vanilla and modded Minecraft servers. Make sure your Minecraft version (e.g. 1.20, 1.21) and any required mods match the server before joining.

Yes. Java Edition runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux PCs. You cannot join Java servers from Xbox, PlayStation, or mobile unless the server supports Bedrock/crossplay with a separate Bedrock IP. Our Java servers list is for players on desktop. If you play on console or mobile, use our Bedrock or crossplay Minecraft server list instead.

It varies. Many Java servers support 1.20 and 1.21; others run 1.12.2, 1.16.5, or other versions for mods and plugins. Each listing on our Minecraft server list shows supported versions when available. Match your Minecraft client version to the server—if the server says 1.21, use 1.21 to connect. Version mismatch is a common reason players cannot join Java servers.
